October and November are Wellness Months at Tallink, where we focus on how our wonderful colleagues balance their work and free time. Creating positive experiences in their free time helps reduce stress, boosts motivation, and keeps the mind sharp.

Now we have reached the last Tuesday where we can read about our employees’ hobbies. We have been greatly inspired by the exciting stories of our hotel colleagues and have explored hobbies from sports and music to cooking.

So, what has this taught us, and what should we all keep in mind?

Hobbies are not just something to casually talk about or take up out of boredom. They are activities that bring peace and joy, helping us break free from daily routines. Hobbies nourish both the body and the mind, keeping us alert, active, and positive.

How to find a suitable hobby for yourself and how to act when discovering a preferred activity turns out to be harder than expected?

The stories revealed that everyone has the opportunity to find a hobby – it just needs to be identified, which sometimes requires a bit of exploration. If you’re not sure what you could start doing as a hobby, it’s good to try various things that make you happy – maybe this will lead you to the right path. It’s also helpful to talk to family, friends, acquaintances, or inspiring people who can introduce you to their favourite activities. Through discussions or experiments, you may quickly realise whether a new and exciting hobby could become a part of your life.

How do hobbies affect the daily life of the creators of special experiences?

Different interviews showed that for our creators of special experiences, the balance between work and free time is crucial – it helps keep the mind sharp and positive, and gives energy for both work and leisure activities. Thanks to this balance and the variety in life, our colleagues feel comfortable and are able to be cheerful and hospitable for our dear guests.

Many hobbies have been passed down from generation to generation and hold emotional value – that’s why we have fishermen and cooks among us with long family traditions. Some hobbies are pursued due to a strong internal calling, while others were discovered at an early age and have turned into a lifestyle, bringing work and hobbies together!

To make it easier for you to find all the inspiring stories of our colleagues and their hobbies, we have included all previously published articles here.
