The Estonian Association of Large Families has been awarding the family-friendly dining label for five years to recognize restaurants and cafés that pay special attention to families with children. Among the recipients this year are Tallink’s hotel restaurants Nero and City Grill House.

With this label, the association aims to provide families with a reliable guide to navigate Estonia’s restaurant scene and find places where dining with children is enjoyable. In Tallinn and Harju County, a total of 21 eateries received the recognition, including City Grill House and Nero.

During the campaign, each dining spot was visited by two families who evaluated how child- and family-friendly the customer service, menu, and interior were, and whether activities were provided for children during waiting times that didn’t involve screens. Based on the families’ feedback, the evaluation committee decided which establishments deserved the label this year.

“Every family with children knows the great value of a dining place that truly considers the needs of children and families,” said Aage Õunap, President of the Estonian Association of Large Families.

How Do We Make the Restaurant Experience Memorable for Our Young Guests at Tallink Hotels?

  • On the forest floor of City Grill House, there is a spacious children’s area where young guests can climb and play. Families are offered toys and activity books with coloring pencils to entertain children while waiting for food. A special menu and fun cocktails are available for children, and for festive occasions, there’s even a children’s sparkling drink (adults love it too!).
  • At restaurant Nero, there’s a cozy kids’ corner where children tired of sitting at the table can stretch their legs, socialize, and play. There’s also a basket of toys and board games that families can enjoy together at the table. Nero also offers a special menu, fun cocktails, and sparkling drinks for children.
  • As hotel restaurants, both City Grill House and Nero place great emphasis on breakfast, and young hotel guests are not forgotten: unlimited ice cream and the opportunity to make their own waffles are offered during breakfast.
  • Starting August 24, Nero’s Sunday family brunches will return from summer break, featuring a character from the Lotte cartoon who entertains children with face painting and balloon animals.

Spending time with family at our restaurants is a joy – whether celebrating life’s special moments or simply enjoying the day together. You are warmly welcome!
